Tom Ferguson brings a wealth of tourism marketing and business development experience to the It’s All About Service Consulting team. His experience includes serving as the executive director of Michigan’s Sunrise Side Travel Association for nearly 20 years, a chamber of commerce director, owner of an advertising, public relations and marketing firm. His experience as chairman of a county-wide economic development commission, a county parks and recreation commission, a six-county workforce development board, and chairman of the Michigan State Parks Citizens Advisory Board, he understands how to get things done. He also served as editor and publisher of a statewide monthly Christian magazine.
While serving as executive director of Michigan’s Sunrise Side Travel Association, he was recognized with the prestigious Governor’s Tourism Marketing Award.
Tom has coordinated with a variety of business operators to write business plans have been used to obtain financing packages through banks and economic development corporations. His experience in creating business plans stems from teaching classes to entrepreneurs through the SBA. He has also authored two “how-to” books on writing small business plans.
Tom also has grant writing experience, with a number of grants being obtained for such projects as a community streetscape, a pocket park in a city-center, tourism marketing projects, and for small to medium size businesses.
He has worked with television production projects including: writing scripts and providing oversight to the film crew, and post-production efforts. He hosted his own radio show for over 15 years, thus giving him a strong background in radio and broadcasting.
Additionally, Tom offers your team the experience to create publications, brochures, business guides, and similar documents which can be used to improve your bottom line.
Tom has a strong background in facility management having been the director of a physical plant for a Michigan university, where he also completed a number of comprehensive courses through the Association for Physical Plant Administrators (APPA). At the present time he serves as president of a 514 unit condominium community in Florida. He has completed a six-year course at the University of Notre Dame and received a certificate from the Institute for Organization Management.
As past chairman of the Region 7B Workforce Development Board, Tom has been involved in a variety of job training and job placement activities through the consortium.
